Post Online Forum Police - It's real now
You guested it, I am the founder of the online forum police

Download This:
http://onlineforumpolice.webs.com

An example, my own forum is the first to join:
http://z7.invisionfree.com/963_Fan_Sect ... hp?act=idx

I'm looking for members to join: http://onlineforumpolice.webs.com/apps/members/

I know that there are people out there who can be disappointed about how they are treated on places such as this, whether it's by staff or other members on communities such as this one but with all due respect, I just got this started today. This is meant to be a pro-active movement to gain a better flow of communication on public forums, we do patrol email accounts, instant messages, chatrooms, or what is said privately between two members on a forum throw their private messaging systems. I'm posting it here because it applies to all communities no matter what the primary subject matter is. We do not actively promote or endorse your forum, we patrol it. If say like a ban is in question because of a vindictive administrator. Example: http://www.sailormoonforum.com/viewtopi ... =2&t=12525 If you got questions about this one, I got answers.

I will also add that when a new forum is added to are patrol beat, we ask that a moderator or administrator of that same forum get a membership with our group to make sure that everyone is equal.

Move this to Shameless Plugs

I'll also note that if your the head administrator of a public forum and your not funded by a major corporation a it's being ran from home, you want to show your members that you have honesty in your contentment to having a good user free opportunity, and if you have allot of unban requests coming in all the time, even from one user, that one user will have a much easier time dealing with a group of collective minds rather then just one person. We also guarantee a banned user the right to face his or her accusers, something that is often never given to such one.

I don't think I need something like that around here since this is a really small board and community. I hope that if anyone feels they are treated unfairly here they will come to me personally. That being said, I think the admins of each board out there in the great wide Internets have the privilege of running their boards however they want, including suspending or banning those who do not wish to follow the rules - or honestly for any reason they want. It's not like message boards come with rights to access - each owner or community sets those standards of inclusion or exclusion.

I'm not entirely sure what your group is doing after reading your post ("patrol email accounts, instant messages, chatrooms, or what is said privately between two members on a forum" sounds a little strange to me?) but good luck with promoting your services elsewhere. :D

If someone files a claim with a forum that is not registered, then we would have to get permission from the forum owner in order to render a final judgment call

Sakura, you seem to be the responsible type but if you where to go somewhere else you'll find that others like yourself see the fact that they are in the same position as you are, they don't have anyone to answer to but themselves, and they rule the entire universe unopposed.

Instead of the forum itself, you along with members of your staff along with members of this forum can come here: http://onlineforumpolice.webs.com/apps/auth/signup this would give you membership to the Online Forum Police forum itself, we just got a client who registered his forum, it has 140,000+ members, he came to me cause members where just running ramped. When he saw that I was the founder, he signed up faster then you can say "Moon Crystal Power".

This forum to this date has only 300+ members while this other one has 140,000+ according to it's lead forum administrator. I'd say as long as your staff isn't making too many bad decisions and you can always render proper judgment then we shouldn't be hearing from any of your members. For anyone who wants to help me with this hole thing, their help will be gladly appreciated. The next forum that signs up could have double or triple that number or we could have claim come in.

To be frank, I don't believe that it's anyone else's business to try and run or "police" a forum that somebody else owns. Perhaps they even pay for the hosting the forum is on as well, and don't only just use a free service for it- I know this is what Sakky does. You do not have any position, or any authority to go in and try and tell the mods and admins on various boards how to run their forums. Frankly, if people feel they're doing a poor job at it, they'll usually just leave and move elsewhere.

In other words, there's not really a point to this "service" you're saying you offer, in so far as I can see.

Maybe your right Duzie, but I started this hole thing because when you get stuff like this then you just have no choice but to take matters into your own hands.

Even if a ban was in the wrong, you don't have the authority to take matters 'into your own hands'. You have no right or business to go on someone else's forum and basically try and dictate how it should be run. Not to mention this seems like the kind of 'service', that butthurt people who were banned for perfectly justifiable reasons would flee to at a moment's notice.

Duzie, I already told Sakura that the OFC would have to have permission from the forum owner to render judgment on a case. If a forum owner never gives a member the right to face his or her accuser, then we have to make sure their able to. Also, if anyone knows Jadeite2 on SMF, make sure he gets this. It's from the Online Forum Police, http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/2899/b ... issing.jpg

In this Jadeite2's defense, I don't like it when people piss me off, either. *nodnod* ^-^

Anyway, I'm going to hypothetically believe you and assume that this admin was being an unfair jerk. But here's the thing:

They're an admin. They're not going to ban themselves. Even if they do undo your ban, they can antagonize you to their heart's content. And while there's something morally wrong with it, there's nothing against-the-rules about it--- they make the rules. What I mean is, why are you trying to get yourself back into position to be a target again? If this person was really the one pushing you to submit that warning, they'll do it again if you come back. Why on Earth would you want that?

HOWEVER...

With all your claims of 'facing your accuser' et cetera, I'd like to hear Jadeite2's side of things. You seem to have left out a lot. Making this totally one-sided, and you're not actually promoting a fair shake in this case.

Just sayin'.

Ok Sailor Star Bucks, if your a member of SMF, send him a PM. If not, ask to speak with him. Their Head forum administrator can be contacted at gummario@hotmail.com and whoever answers tell them to contact the online forum police at onlineforumpolice@live.com

If I am unbanned, I'm not going to mindlessly come and come again. They will be subject to an undercover investigation, a member of their forum will be asked to evaluate the entire site for 30 days. They will know when the investigation begins and when it ends and based on this members judgement, they will or will not have the right to say if their staff is OFP Approved.

Well since this thread has just become a discussion about drama from some other board I'm going to go ahead and lock it. If you guys want to discuss this further you can take it to PMs :)
