Sailor Astera: Senshi of Revenge

(Reading this profile may give away spoilers to the fanfiction Return of Astera.)
About the Girl
Name: Katakini Sakura
Meaning: Revenge in Cherry Blossoms
Additional Information: This name is chosen by Sailor Astera as her alias while on 20th century Earth. Her birth name was Astera Yukio, but at the time the story takes place, she considers her true identity to be Sailor Astera.
Sex: Female
Birth Date: November 21
Age: 17
Height: 5'4" (162.5cm)
Weight: 134 lbs (60.8kg)
Build: Sakura is somewhat thin but toned. She has an attractive figure that she uses to her advantage quite often. She also likes to dress to accent that figure. She is physically strong in her legs and midsection, but her upper body is more fragile.
Skin color: Fair Caucasian (#FAE8CB)
Eye color: Purple (#613C6D), a bit wide and full-lashed
Hair: In civilian form, her hair is blond (#FFEFAD) and falls straight to her mid thigh. Occasionally, she will tie it back in a loose bun to keep it tamed, but it is usually worn loose. She has long straight bangs that are parted at the center and layer into her hair. When she transforms into Sailor Astera, her hair becomes a deep purple (#1A111D) which nearly appears black; this is a symbolic element of her contaminated soul as a senshi. If she were to be healed of the negativity that plagues her, her hair would remain blond in both human and senshi forms.
Blood Type: B. This means Sakura is interested in many things and she has many hobbies. However sometimes she gets so obsessed with a project, she neglects other important things. Especially with the tainted soul she carries - her need to fulfill her revenge sometimes takes over her being all together and she is unable to think or act rationally. She can be very withdrawn from other people, even those she is fond of, but cannot explain why she feels disconnected.
Sun Sign: Sakura was born on the Scorpio/Sagittarius cusp; this gives her some qualities of both the emotional and passionate Scorpion, and the driving strength of a Sagittarian. She makes up her mind and is likely to stick with that decision and see it through without change. Scorpio is a fixed sign, lending Sakura to be stubborn. However, the influence the ever-learning Sagittarius helps her to act without bias to do what she wants when she wants. She is impulsive and independent. She is capable of many tasks and progressive, but is often impatient and pushy if something isn't getting going the as planned. Suspicion and jealousy are serious downfalls to the Scorpio/Sagittarian; however, her passion and awareness can help her rise above those traits. Her innate self-confidence may make her argumentative or blunt, but her intention is usually to learn, not to offend. She is high-spirited and enthusiastic, often flirtatious, and she tends to enjoy social life immensely. In her leisure time, Scorpio/Sagittarians enjoy competition and challenge. She isn't satisfied with moving along at half speed or lowering her abilities to let those with lesser skills beat her.
Likes: chocolate, cute guys
Dislikes: Crowds, living alone, pizza
Favorite Subjects: Art & Natural Sciences
Least Favorite Subjects: Economics
Favorite Gemstone: Amethyst
Future Goals: As a girl, and perhaps subconsciously, all Sakura wants is to belong - she needs a reason to live. This manifests partially through her attempts for Mamoru's attention. As a senshi, she has no goals beyond that of attaining her revenge. Any soul-felt desires are effectively buried under her guise as an all-hating, rancorous fighter.
Strengths: Determined, stoic
Weaknesses: Sakura is weak to, of course, the power of the Ginzuishou. Ultimately, only Sailor Moon's eternal purity can save Astera from herself. As a girl in mundane life, she is scared by loud noises and is afraid of falling.
Personality: Sakura is slightly aloof, she is drawn in to herself and not usually open with people. Not oddly, Usagi seems to be the only one that really wants to try to get to know her in the first place. Sakura is a chronic liar, she will lie to cover up mistakes, shortcomings, and other lies. She hates feeling ignorant, and never likes to lose in any situation. She will usually accept a challenge, physical or otherwise. If one did get her to open up, one should beware not to spark her jealousy or betray her in anyway, for she is easily hurt and can be antagonistic without warning. When she sets herself on a goal she will take any means to the end.
About the Senshi
Senshi Name: Sailor Astera
Title: Senshi of Revenge
Colors: Purple (#613C6D) & black (#1A111D)
Fuku: Astera's outfit is a Super Sol Senshi outfit with a few minor alterations. The chocker, front bow, main skirt, and boots are black; the collar, heart shaped brooch, and back bow are all purple. A thick purple stripe lines the entire bottom edge of the skirt. The collar has one white stripe on it and the choker has a golden star at the center. Her front and back bow form three prongs that flare out to the size of a regular Sol Senshi bow. The bow tails are standard with the back having long tails which hang a few inches past the bottom of the skirt. Her gloves are white and three purple bands hold them at her elbows. The boots are to the knee and pointed upward. A thick white stripe lines the top edge.
When healed, the colors on her outfit reverse; what was black becomes purple and vice versa. In her dark form, Sailor Astera has a golden crescent moon on her forehead. When healed, she wears a standard v-shaped golden tiara with an oval purple gem at the center.
Powers: Soul, with powers coming from negativity
Symbol: [image]
Transformation: Astera holds up her Amethyst Crystal and shouts, "Amethyst Crystal Power! Make-UP!" She spins upright counter-clockwise as a cascade of lights and beams come down around her body from the crystal. The lights dissolve her civilian clothing. Then the 'camera' zooms to her forehead where a golden crescent moon appears. Her hair flies to the right as she turns to the left and the gust of wind turns her hair black from root to tip as the 'camera' zooms out again. She lowers her arms and the crystal goes to the center of her chest. Her outfit sprouts from it, wrapping around her all at once. She opens her eyes and they sparkle on a closeup. Then there is flash frame of an exploding planet, and Sailor Astera strikes her final pose. (TBD)
Weapons: Adazuishou (image), daggers
Abilities: In senshi form she has the ability to vanish from sight for a few moments. This is due to the disguise pen that she carries which was a gift passed to her by her father from her deceased mother.
Attacks:
Astera-Nemesis Daggers - Makes a dagger, or two, whatever she needs. They are used in physical combat.
---Advance! - Temporarily makes the dagger into a sword.
Amethyst Dynamic Burn - Volatile purple light shoots out from the crystal directly at the target. This attack is used as her primary offensive attack when going into battle. It is as effective as she can aim it, usually leaving the target drained of energy.
Planet Exploding - She raises her arms above her head, spins counter-clockwise and swings the crystal toward the ground, creating a bright purple line under her opponent which will split and form a crevice. The crevice is an illusion, but it's emotional effects can render an opponent in serious mental distress. Astera will use this attack on more powerful opponents as an offensive attack.
Amethyst Spiritual Hallucination - Little demon mirages fly to the already weakened opponent and draw energy from them, funneling that energy back to Astera. This can be used both as a defensive and offensive attack. If she is strong, the more power the better; if she is weak, this could save her life. It is more of a nuisance than an attack than a powerful punch because it can only prey on those who've already become weak themselves.
Amethyst Death Encounter - A deafening scream followed by blackness and a sensation of having one's heart ripped out of one's chest through the rib cage. It is a hallucination, but it has lasting effects often rendering the opponent in a catatonic state. This may be used as a fatality attack before a final physical blow with a weapon.
Eclipse Dark Shadow - A black light of Nemesis from the crystal forms a barrier from incoming attacks. It is used primarily as defense, however, on occasion, the attack can be altered to not only stop the attack, but throw it back at the aggressor. It is not 100% effective - there are some more powerful attacks it cannot block.

(Very) Extended History:
Astera comes to the 20th century in the Sailor Moon Universe from the future (30th century, Crystal Tokyo). She has returned to present-day Tokyo to seek a revenge on those she believes killed her father in the future and destroyed her home planet. Astera was a planet that orbited the same sun as the Earth. It is important to note that the planet Astera had an awkward orbit: due to a extra-solar collision in its early formation, it had a great elliptical path that fell between the planets Mars and Jupiter and brought it far into the outer reaches of our solar system. Because of this odd path, Astera was often very far from the other planets in the system and for this reason the people of Astera were often considered deviant outsiders. They did not generally participate in the rulings and on goings of the Moon Kingdom.
Sailor Astera's story starts in the time of the Moon Kingdom before the coming of Queen Serenity. Prior to the Silver Millennium's commencement, there was serious unrest in the Solar System. Planetary kingdoms fought petty wars of power with one another, and people were generally discontent with the status quo. The ruling family on the Moon was coming under fire for its inter-planetary policies and support for the family was fading. The people of the system clung to the story that a legendary savior would appear with the mark of peace to lead the system into a new age. A daughter of the ruling family bore a child with white hair and a golden crescent on her forehead. The child, called Selene, was proclaimed a savior and raised to someday become the new queen of peace.
However, the woman soon had another child and this child also bore the mark of the Moon. Fearing for controversy and more division among the people of the system, her family ordered her to remove the child from the house of the Moon, take the marking from her head, and place her in the care of an unknown foster family. On the day the child was sent away, her mother slipped a gift into the basket to give a little something of home so that she may find enjoyment in the mundane world she was being hidden in. This item was similar to Sailor Moon's disguise pen and the mother hoped that her estranged daughter would find hope with it.
A decade and a half later, the two girls had matured into beautiful young women. On the day of the crowning of Selene as the new Queen Serenity and the beginning of the Silver Millennium, the other daughter, Kiara, watched from afar on the second story balcony of her parents run down house on the outskirts of the kingdom. Leaning forward to hear the horns from the ceremony, she did not notice the weak banister begin to fail. When it snapped, she fell to the ground below. Her parents were away for days to make the pilgrimage to the great city. It is possible that she may have died there were it not for a passerby who saw the terrible accident.
King Yukio of the planet Astera was late on his way to the ceremony and used the girl's falling as an excuse to miss the event entirely. He had her treated there on the Moon and then taken her back to Astera to be treated by his doctors. As she was healing from her injuries, the King visited her often and was taken by her charm and beauty. He soon fell in love with her, and she with him. Her family came to Astera to live with her and Yukio and Kiara were wed. Soon she bore a child, named Astera after her new home.
Shockingly, this child bore the crescent mark of the Moon! The people of Astera proclaimed they had the savior and that Serenity was a fraud, a false queen that was created by the moon kingdom family to stay in power. The King called for acts of war to dethrone this false messiah and replace their young Astera in her place. The Queen had a wavering heart. She wanted more than anything to live peacefully with her new family.
Queen Serenity's advisors told her to put a nix on this rebellion before it became unstoppable, but she was peace-minded and wanted no conflicts. She decided it would be wise to send a small group of soldiers to bring a hand written letter to the king and queen of Astera requesting time together to decided what was best for the Solar System. However, the people of Astera would not allow the letter to be delivered until they first read it, and since the orders were to only allow the letter to be read by its intended recipients, they remained in a deadlock.
Tired of the foolish bickering and desiring a peaceful outcome, Queen Kiara set out to retreive the letter. The King would not let her go alone, so he sent her off with a group of lightly armed warriors as guards. As they approached the camp of the White Moon, darkness settled on the land. A scout from the camp saw the group approaching and mistook it as a secret attack by the Asterian rebels. They quickly warned the others. Another group was ordered out to come up behind the approaching band and destroy them.
Since the Queen and her guards had come lightly armed, they had little means to protect themselves from the ambush and they were slaughtered by the light of fire and moon.
The next day, when his wife had not returned, Yukio went in search of her. There on the side of the road, he found Kiara's lifeless body, her silky blonde hair caked in mud and dried blood and her fair skin turned gray with death. He cried out from that place in time and claimed he would seek revenge for this horrible deed.
When Queen Serenity heard what had happened she was taken aback with horror and sadness and immediately went to Astera to meet with the King. Against the wishes of her advisors, because of her delicate condition with child, she went into the meeting room alone. As she stepped in, Yukio held a sword up to her neck and told her she was foolish and he would kill her and her unborn child. She sympathized with him and her voice never faltered. Slowly she convinced him that all was not lost and that the queen's death may not have been in vain. As a token of her hope for peace, she offered him a gift.
The Obsidian crystal had been made by the finest artisans and spiritualists in the Moon Kingdom and would allow Yukio and his kingdom to have expanded lifetimes. Yukio reluctantly accepted the gift and went to bide his time, for he was still very bitter.
Astera was slowly leaving the solar system as it followed its awkward orbit. Then 16 years later, the day of Metallia's attack on the White Moon Kingdom came unexpectedly and Yukio sent no troops to support. Everyone was caught off guard and all of the royal family was killed - except the Queen Serenity. With her daughter and heir dead and no hope for her kingdom, she used the remaining power in her crystal to send all her loved ones to a peaceful future on Earth.
During this battle, Astera had traveled far out of the system and lived in seclusion. By the time the planet reentered the solar system it was the year 3089. King Yukio was pleased to see a desolate Moon, but was shocked to find Neo-Queen Serenity had come to power in the gluttonous splendor that was Crystal Tokyo on Earth.
When King Yukio found this, still alive by the power of Serenity's gift and his own terrible socery, he was furious! He saw it as terribly unjust that the daughter of a murderer was in power of the entire solar system! He still believed his daughter, Princess Astera was the TRUE messiah and destined leader of the system. He had been teaching her and all his kingdom about the White Moon Kingdom and how they were cruel, heartless, and greedy. And above all, he told her, was the Queen, the most wicked person in the entire universe, bend on avoiding justice with bribery. Surely the spirit of the heartless killer had been passed on to her heir. His skewed views were ever distorted through eyes of hatred.
His anger led him to stage and attack
against Crystal Tokyo. Knowing how dangerous this would be, he sent his
beloved daughter to the far off dark planet of Nemesis, where hatred for Crystal Tokyo was also brewing. There he thought she would be safe.
As the battle wore on, more and more of King Yukio's troops fell and they were forced to retreat back to Astera. They battled there until almost all the men had fallen and it was just King Yukio alone astride his horse.
But he would not surrender.
As a last attempt to gain the revenge he for sought wholeheartedly, he threw a dagger and the Queen herself. King Endymion was there to protect her and the Queen had no choice but to use some of the power of her crystal to defeat this man. The rebels were diven back to Astera. The Queen was not aware that the retreat was a trap. In a last ditch effort to kill the Queen in this losing battle, Yukio activated a destruction sequence at the core of the planet. Astera was destroyed, exploding along fault lines that tore the planet apart. It settled into a regular orbit between Mars and Jupiter however it had been blown to chunks, and it would exist no longer. Serenity, with help from Endymion and her guardians, escaped unscathed. Serenity knew the far reaching powers of hatred. Using the Ginzuishou, Serenity willed the planet Astera to be faded from all know existence and memory for as far back into history as she could feel. She wished, in effect, for it to be erased it from existence. She then sanctified the new asteroid belt by placing four new guardian seeds there to grow. King Yukio was destroyed in the battle and the Princess was left alone on Nemesis in the hands of the Dark Moon.
She was not alone for long.
Her father visited Astera in her dreams often for though passed on, his spirit was still very powerful. He taught her what he could in her dreams and she trained. She discovered that she possesed an amazing power, that of the Sailor Crystal of Astera. This glowing ember within her allowed her to change from and become that which she loathed: a sailor senshi, Sailor Astera. One night she told him she wanted revenge on the Senshi of Earth, and especially Neo-Queen Serenity, for what they had done to her home and family in the present and what Queen Serenity had done to her mother in the past. The King was pleased and he used his powers of the Obsidian crystal to take her Sailor Crystal from her body and fill it with power then form it into an powerful amulet - an amethyst crystal called the Adazuishou. With this supreme weapon, Astera was able to reach a new level of power. As a super sailor senshi, she took on the title of Senshi of Revenge.
She returned to the 20th century with the Dark Moon Family of Nemesis and assumed the name Katakini Sakura. She came with the spirits of her father's strongest generals, Thyrei and Kuzreo, and the disguise pen her mother had left for her from her grandmother. She went to seek out the girlcalled Sailor Moon who was to become Neo-Queen Serenity. On Earth, she met her guardian cat Demitrius who, unbeknownst to Astera, was actually there to make sure Sailor Moon discovered her true identity before it was too late.
Astera, as Sakura, watched the senshi for nearly a year as they fought and destroyed the Dark Moon family from Nemesis. She learned about them: their weaknesses, their strengths, and their training. She plotted and planed with building hatred and disgust, and grow incresingly empassioned to destroy Sailor Moon and all things important in her world. Then and only then she felt she would complete her true destiny and finally be able to exist in peace.
If you want to know what happened when she started her road of revenge, please read my fanfic, Return of Astera!) Otherwise, drag your mouse over the space below to highlight the *SPOILERS* of Astera's bio.
When Astera arrived on Earth she continued living with the Dark Moon but instead of taking part in their encounters with the senshi, she enrolled in the school system and began to watch them. In this way, she effectually knew both sides of the battle. Neither side knew this and she did very well in not letting the Dark Moon know about her musings.
She became a regular face in the crowd at the school and was hardly noticed until one day (shortly after the defeat of the Dark Moon) when she spat in a teacher's face for harassing her (yeah, in that way). She was transferred to Usagi's class and she decided that the time had come for her plan to unfold. She befriended Usagi but was exposed by Demitrius (who made it look like an accident). After awakening her two generals by having their souls possess two boys (Mamoru's friend and Ami's new lover) she then formulates a system of plans that culminate with her kidnapping Minako's, Makoto's, Rei's, and Usagi's dearest male friends. She lures them into a trap with the men and she manages to successfully torment the senshi with the deaths of their loved ones. While Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Moon fight Astera, Ami (recovering from having killed her love because he was possessed by Astera's general) discovers the truth about the Legend of the Planet Astera. She hopes that she can find the senshi before it's too late.
When she arrived Astera had seen to it that all of the men were dead by some terrible means (often at the hands of the senshi's own attacks). She has also torured Usagi by forcing her to watch Mamoru drown. She then made her final attack on Sailor Moon. But of course, Sailor Moon doesn't give in so easily! She fought against Astera with all her might, almost shocked by the power of her Adazuishou. Sailor Moon of course did not realize that the crystal was really a form of Astera's Sailor Crystal and because she had Moon blood in her, it was bound to be powerful. Just when Sailor Moon thought there might be no hope, Sailor Mercury arrived and came as her final guardian to protect her Princess. She stepped into the line of fire from Astera to allow Sailor Moon, now Princess Serenity, to regain some strength. There was a pause in the fighting after that and Serenity managed to get an unexpected attack on Astera.
The Ginzuishou's light filled the rink healing wounds and giving a new chance at life to those who had been killed. Astera's crystal was shattered, took the form of her true essence, then entered her body. Princess Serenity fell to the rink floor, the Ginzuishou's energy spent.
Usagi woke up in an ethereal place and was greeted by a new version of Sailor Astera, now healed of all the evil that was within her body. She explained to Usagi that her selfless powers had saved all of her friends. The new Sailor Astera, with reversed outfit colors and a tiara in place of her crescent moon, tells Usagi that she will return to the Cauldron to find her true destiny. Usagi expresses how happy she is but longs to be back with her friends. Astera thanks her once again and tells her that her place is there on Earth with the others. Usagi is sent back to Earth and Sailor Astera continues on her path to her true fate.
The End! ...or is it?
